About Your Trusted and Dedicated Columbia SC Roofing Company, Bauer Roofing
At Bauer Roofing, We Believe In Honesty & Integrity FIRST
Our Family Story Is About More Than Facts & Figures
I know most ‘About Us’ pages are filled with company facts and figures, and usually are expected to have typical phrases like “good service” and “dedication to quality.” That kind of formal page is fine, but it doesn’t get to the heart of this company’s story. The real story for our Columbia SC roofing company is about family and the values of hard work and honesty.
A Message from Bauer Roofing
Hi, my name is Roy, and I’m part of a family roofing company: Bauer Roofing. Dad started this thing 25 years ago right here in Columbia SC, South Carolina, and we’ve been going strong ever since.
I grew up in a house where integrity and honesty were two of the highest values you could possibly have. My parents were obsessive-compulsive when it came to being honest and doing the right thing. And that didn’t just apply at home; I was taught that it applied to EVERY area including the business side of life.
After graduating from Airport High School, I went on to Clemson, which is a family tradition. My sister went there too, and so did my dad in the 60’s. (My wife, on the other hand, is a USC grad – so one way or the other at least somebody will be happy after the game every year).
During my own time at Clemson, I still worked the family business during the summers, always learning and absorbing as much as I could.
Here is some of what I learned:
Dad started this company with two simple, but extremely lofty, goals: (1) Install the best possible roofing system and (2) treat homeowners with respect by providing the absolute best possible service.
I’ve had the good fortune to see my Dad work at those lofty goals all these years, and I can honestly say that thousands of customers later, he has succeeded with those goals. I also recognize how lucky I am that this strong foundation was put into place. My role is just to keep the momentum going and never let up on our high standards.
As the roofing industry continues to evolve (both materials and installation procedures) and, as homeowners continue to become more and more energy conscious, I’m excited about the future of roofing.
I love roofing because the materials, technology, and even the roofs themselves may look different now than they did 25 years ago, but the hard work and dedication of each and every employee remains the same.
In addition to having a wonderful father who taught me right from wrong, I’ve been blessed to meet others along the way who’ve helped guide and shape my career. We’ve had a lot of good people work for and with us over the years and it is a good feeling having known and learned from all these good, honest men and women.
I also love that I get to chat with so many homeowners as part of my job and the feeling of community around here.
One final note: I don’t take it lightly that the sign in front of every house we work on has my last name on it. My promise to my family and to each homeowner is that I will live up to the standards that have become expected of the Bauer name.

- What does green roofing mean?
What does Green Roofing mean anyway? Sounds kind of….weird. Well, tonight at Seawells in Columbia, I have the privilege of talking to what I’ve always known as the Columbia Remodelers Council, but is officially called HBA of Greater Columbia Remodelers (HBAR). I’ll be talking about one type of –and between you and me, the best type of– Green… Read More
- Dealing With An HOA
When it comes to installing a metal roof in many neighborhoods across South Carolina, you first have to convince your HOA to let you, and that can be difficult for some. I’ve had the pleasure, and I’m not being sarcastic when I say that, of sitting in front of HOA boards throughout South Carolina, helping… Read More
